VEGAPULS 66
Swivel and Sound
Product Overview
Swivel and Sound Radar Indicator for Continuous Level Measurements of Liquid
This marine radar tank level indicator can be ordered in three configurations: flange mount, threaded, or stub end for mounting on the sounding tube. A pneumatic quick release allows the radar head to be easily and quickly swiveled off the tube top if the ship still prefers to perform physical soundings. The VEGAPULS 66 radar sensor is used in thousands of applications on nearly every ship in the US Navy. Existing hand sounding tubes are used for measuring the levels.
The radar sensor couples its signal directly into the sounding pipe and makes the classic radar antenna unnecessary. The VEGAPULS 66 Swivel and Sound Radar can be swiveled from the sounding pipe by means of a special coupling if a manual sounding is necessary.
Features
- Non-contact measurement - no moving parts
- Lifecycle cost-effective alternative to differential pressure, floats and displacers
- 2-wire technology reduces wiring costs and allows easy implementation into existing systems
- No need to perform manual soundings by ship’s crew
- Easy on-site operation and indication via PLICSCOM menu-driven display
- Calibration can be performed via laptop personal computer without having to enter the tank or remove device
- Fluent across all communication protocols: 4-20ma/HART, PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus
- Measurement independent of fluid temperature or pressure
- Radar tank level indicator performs electronic measurements outside of the tank
