Position Summary

This technical sales position is responsible for NAG Business Development efforts for government and commercial customers that own, operate, build, repair and modernize vessels.

Key customer focus will include Military Sealift Command, USCG and Army afloat (collectively DoD Marine). In addition to selling our existing products, this position will seek to identify potential new product requirements, and work closely with NAG Engineering and Product Development to launch new products. 

We are seeking a technical salesperson to join our team who will succeed at specifying our existing products into projects on the front end, as well as, be opportunistic in identifying opportunities to develop new products which solve a customer problem and align with our core competencies. This position (you) will lead our growth into new shipboard systems and applications by establishing relationships across all levels of influencers including Engineering, Vessel Managers, Port Engineers, Chief Engineers, Project Managers and Contracting/Procurement at Key Accounts, naval architects and various shipyards.  You will develop a strong working knowledge of our current and future products, and interface with influencers at customer sites to get NAG specified into the various applicable systems and projects. 

This is a salaried position with bonus potential. 

Travel to various locations as required to support sales efforts


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop a technical proficiency with all NAG products
  2. Responsible for the overall sales activities for assigned customers, regions, and products. 
  3. Responsibilities include working on a team to perform strategic planning, product sales, marketing oversight and management of daily sales activities.
  4. Developing and maintaining an existing client base while aggressively pursuing new business opportunities at key and new accounts.
  5. Utilize effective communication throughout the project cycle:  
    • Identify/develop detailed product/project specification requirements with the customer
    • Effectively communicate requirements (and competitive landscape) internally to support development of a proposed solution.
    • Present our proposed solution and manage the back and forth through final quote submission and order close.
    • Maintain communication and mange expectations with the customer post-award providing updates on deliverables.
  6.  Capable of selling to multiple audiences, from “deck plate” engineers to high-level Program Managers and In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs).


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience preferred.
  2. Experience with instrumentation & control systems, and/or embedded computing hardware is beneficial. Visit for information on our products.
  3. Shipboard and/or Navy experience in this area are a plus.
  4. Applicant must be highly motivated, energetic, and able to self-manage while working in a remote status.
  5. An understanding and working knowledge of various industry specifications preferred.  Specifically, USCG Type Approvals, ABS approvals, ABS-SVR/NVR, MIL-S-901D Shock, MIL-STD-167/1A Vibration, and MIL-STD-461 Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).
  6. Competitive, proactive, excellent listener and speaker with strong written communication skills.
  7. Possess a high-quality focus, with excellent customer service skills, and the desire and capability to exceed customer expectations.


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Technical knowledge base preferred, particularly in the areas of shipboard instrumentation & controls and embedded computing hardware.
  • Bachelor Degree minimum preferred.
  • Prior shipboard equipment sales experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
